The modern standard for workforce management
SAP SuccessFactors Time Management
SAP SuccessFactors Time Management modernizes your workforce time management and addresses the biggest challenges in HR and IT. Whether it’s compliance with global labor laws, flexible work models, or reducing administrative overhead: As an experienced SAP implementation partner, we ensure that this solution provides you with the flexibility, legal compliance, and transparency you need.
Through seamless integration with SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, your time management becomes the centerpiece of a centralized, digital HR platform. You can manage working hours, breaks, and overtime on the go, intuitively, and in real time. The cloud-based solution drastically reduces administrative overhead. You always maintain a clear overview, from shift scheduling to the automatic verification of compliance rules such as maximum working hours. SAP SuccessFactors Time is the modern cloud alternative to traditional on-premise SAP time management. With SAP SuccessFactors Time Management, you not only provide long-term relief for HR and IT but also increase the satisfaction of your entire workforce.
Why SAP Time Management Pays Off Now
Accurately tracking working hours is not only a legal requirement but, above all, a key driver of efficiency. With SAP SuccessFactors, you can clearly map working-hour-related rules—from breaks to premium pay—within the system, reduce the need for corrections, and create transparency for HR, payroll, and managers. Employees clock in and out wherever they work: on mobile devices, in a browser, or at a terminal. This reduces follow-up questions, prevents data inconsistencies, and makes time data audit-proof. In short: less effort, fewer disputes, faster payroll, and a better employee experience.
At one glance:
- Legal & Compliance (DACH): Pragmatically implement mandatory time tracking.
- Efficiency: Digital processes instead of Excel/siloed solutions.
- Transparency: Real-time view of times, balances, and overtime.
- Employee Experience: Easy clock-in via apps & self-service portals (ESS/MSS).
SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking: More than just an Add-On
Time Sheet and Time Off cover the basics, but Time Tracking takes it a step further. Clock-in/clock-out (including via terminals), event-based entries, and flexible validation rules verify times as they’re entered. Tolerances, breaks, limits, and surcharges are automatically factored in; the team can see any discrepancies immediately. Managers approve entries with context, time accounts remain accurate, and verified, consistent data is sent to payroll. Whether it’s shift work, field service, or a hybrid office: Time Tracking ensures that rules are followed, not corrected after the fact.
At one glance:
- Event-based time tracking (Time Events) & terminal integration
- Finely tunable evaluation rules (thresholds, breaks, tolerances)
- Real-time feedback for employees & supervisors
- Greater depth of verification before transfer to payroll

Questions & Answers
Do I need time tracking, or is timesheet enough?
Time Sheet covers basic time tracking. Time Tracking is worth considering if clock-in/out, more detailed surcharge/rating rules, stricter checks, or terminal integration are required.
Can I continue to use my existing time clocks?
In many cases, yes. Terminals can be integrated using integration scenarios (Time Events/API). Before the project begins, we review formats, system requirements, and compatibility.
Do I need additional licenses for time tracking?
Yes, SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking is a licensed add-on for Employee Central. Billing is typically on a per-user, per-month basis. Details vary depending on the scope and contract—we’d be happy to provide you with personalized advice.
How long does implementation take?
From 8 to 14 weeks for simple setups to several months for complex shift and pay scale structures. The key factors are the scope of the rules, integrations, and the depth of testing.
Do employees always have to “clock in”?
No. Clock-in/out is optional. Alternatives include manual entry, templates, and a mobile app - depending on legal requirements and company culture.
How secure is the time-data (GDPR)?
Time data is processed in accordance with the role-based access control model. From the start of the project, we prioritize data minimization, transparency (self-service options), and secure integrations - including deletion and retention periods.
